Gears

I am running 4.56's with my 35's. A couple of my buddies are running the same. I agree that 4.10's would not be enough improvement to justify the cost. I would go 4.56 hands down. I love them. Of course its not going to get good freeway mileage. With oversized tires you are going to get shafted in either direction no matter what gears you go. 3.73's your city mileage is going to suck. 4.56's your freeway mileage is going to take a hit, but at least you are taking some of the strain off of your drivetrain. 4.88's are going to be way too much.

The thing I don't understand I that ppl say they run 70mph at like 2100-2300rpm, that doesn't sound too goo for mpg, right now I have 3.73 and 35's and run like 1750-1850

Ring and pinion swaps are not that hard to do, there are some instructional videos online and setting the backlash is not that difficult either if you have a needle gauge which you can buy. The majority of the cost is in the labor when getting gears, a complete set front and rear with install kits and bearings cost me about $650. you will spend anywhere from $700 to $1000 more for labor on top of that...Look at it like this, if you don't get the backlash shimming correct you will have to buy another $325 in rear gears and install kits and try it again as you will not wear out the front unless you are cruising around on the highway with the front end engaged....
I don't know how mechanically inclined you are but if you have an impacter for the ring gear I would give it a shot.

Labor is alot for gear installation for a reason. Its nothing to "be giving a shot". It has to be done perfectly. But only you know what your capable of.
