Yes you have to do the same to both. If you don't you bind up the drivetrain and tear up the transfercase.... the old 77-79 bronco's used 411 in the rear and a 410 in the front that way the rear wasn't pushing the front. I had my 1978 F150 fitted with 37x12.50x15 goodyear MTR's and kept the stock gears, was awsome for gas mileage. You drop the gears you'll get more grunt (486's) but a 4:10 would give you good gears, and still have mileage. What size tires were you gonna run?

I'm running 35's. I want a good set of gears that won't make my truck burn to much gas but a gear that will restore some of the lost power. It has the stock 3.73 LS gears.

I had a set of Yukon 4.56's installed in my truck and am totally happy with them. Regained that lost power when I lifted and installed 35's. I don't have the Edge, but I'm sure it's probably the same as my Xcal II, you will just have to change the gear ratio setting in the Edge manually from your stock gear size to your new gear size.

If you plan on running the 35's for awhile go with the 4.56's, if you plan to go with taller tires later on go with 4.88's. You will be able to re-calibrate for the change in gearing with the Edge and don't forget to hang on!! Be prepared for a big change!
