Default Gauge cluster troble

Hey all just wondering if anyone else may have had the same problem that I am having? Well it seems like when I close the door and have the truck running or hit a bump on the road the cluster will shut off. Everything else still works A/C radio lights etc, the truck wont die stall or anything like that. All that happens is the gauges go all the way down all the lights on the cluster come on and the interior chime will start to beep. Once I bang on the dash or open and close the door it all comes back to life. Any thoughts?

could be 1 of 2 things.

1. the connection could be lose.

2. the cluster has a short and needs to be replaced.

I took apart the dash surrounding the instrument panel to check for a loose connection and nothing. I was trying to get it to "mess up" by tapping jiggling ect. and nothing I am probably going to change the cluster because it does seem that that is the problem. I hope I am not just tossing my money away!

Check your ground connections, a dash has several usually down by the kick panels or anywhere on the firewall. Could be why when you shut the door it happens
