I installed blue LED's in a cluster belonging to my old 84 VW vanagon camper. They gave off a nice soft illumination, but I doubt it would penetrate through the green film of our Ford clusters. Clear LED's would, but I'm guessing your looking for a different color. Did that person replace his dash face? You can order white gauge cluster faces nowadays, so perhaps that's how he got around the green thing.

The best I can come up with is to go to an arts and crafts store and buy a small piece of green film. Then shine different colors through it to see what effect you get. Pick the one you like and order that color LED for the cluster.

Default Color

OK, taht guy bought an after market face plate, then changed the LED's behind it. In order to get past the green, I removed the film on the back using finger nail pollish remover and q-tips, and finger. then I installed the DARK BLUE LED's, and it looks like this, i need to get the blue or clear needles to make the needles glow the correct color.
