Default gas mileage with lift kit/big tires

hey guys i was looking into lift kits for my 04 FX4. Its yellow so i was thinking some black rims probably 18's. I have no idea about lift kits ir tires tough so i need some suggestions and answers. How much does gas mileage go down and what are some kits and tires that arent extremelllly expensive?

thanks, Tony

10 inches of lift for 35s sounds like a little to much IMO

my 4.6l gets 15.5 city and 20hwy with 35" tires. i think thats pretty good for a small motor spinning 35's. also has to do with the mods you do.

I have the 5.4L with a 6" lift and 35's and I'm getting a little under 12 mpg's. A lot of it has to do with where you do your driving at. If you do mainly hwy miles (which I'm assuming the guys reporting 9" & 10" of lift with 16 & 17 mpg's are doing) you're going to see better mpg's. If you're like me and 99.9% of your driving is stop-n-go then your mpg's are going to be lower.

When I was back on the mainland living on the gulf coast I did about 60% hwy miles and was getting close to 15-16 mpg's. Although I get less mpg's I'm still saving a lot of money on gas out here because I'm only putting about 400 miles a month on the truck.

Also Fabtech are a really good lift (widely regarded as one of the best 6" lifts) that won't cost as much as some of the others on the market. As far as tires I'm not sure, but I think Kuhmo's are one of the cheaper brands that are still regarded as a good tire. It really depends on what exactly you're wanting to go with.

5.4 supercrew, 8inches of lift, 37s on 20s, and I get anywhere from 12-15mpg total on the tank, and thats about 98% street driving.
