Gas cap...who needs one?
So I had an original post here a few months back and ny mileage was crap. I had a lot of work done fixed a MAF and i got decent mileage back, but now im back to the 11mpg, no matter what. I have done all highway trips and its 11 mpg. All city its 11mpg, nothing bust that 11 number. My truck is a 4.6 triton with a level and 285s. I have a new rear end a I try to keep the RPMs under 2000. But the other day I was on the phone and left my gas cap on the bed rail, drove all day with no gas cap....and never got a check engine light. Could this be a source to my problems? BTW i have done the basics and then some far as maintenance. Plugs, oil, filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, had to have a new rear end put in and an exhuast put on. my trucks mileage is 120000. Any more ideas? It starts fine runs fine just crap mileage.

As techrep stated, disconnect the battery, and clean the throttle body. If it has not been cleaned in awhile, chances are good it is dirty on the plate.
You mentioned "a new rearend"; what's the gear ratio? Did that change that from what it originally had? That will have an effect on the mileage.
My son has a Ranger 4x4; he recently changed the front and rear gears to 4:11's. He brags about its ability to crawl through the Florida swaps, but now is complaining about his mileage as well.
Bummer, I tell him.
