I did a search a week or so ago for teh same thing; there's lready an existing thread.........but no real solutions.

Everyone (as usual) is saying 10 different things.

The answer from the dealership is that the door itself needs to be replaced as the spring is 'inside' and can't be replaced on it's own.......but the door doesn't come painted.

There's one guy on here that says he fixed his with a screw, I asked him if he had pics and he said he made a thread about it, but no thread from him exists. He then stated he couldn't find the thread either and that was the last I heard from him.

You don't have to replace the door itself I will pop off and you can replace the bucket that the door attaches to. What happened on mine is the shaft that connects the door and lets it pivot stripped out and nothing would hold it in place and I had to get the bucket from ford and replace that.

How 'bout some industrial strength velcro strategically placed?

Edit: Did some further searching for pics... take a look at the pic in the ebay listing (link below)... it show's the spring that commonly breaks... you might be able to recreate the spring with something from a hardware store

Why not get one of the aluminum bolt-on versions and paint it to match the truck?

Me too. So much so that I bought a locking black billet door. Looks good against the Dark Stone color.

Default Using magnets to keep the fuel door closed

magnet 1 installed using super glue and dremel

magnet 2 was installed behind rubber stop. I carved some rubber off of it so the magnet would fit. Again, used superglue to hold it in place.
