The way it reads now is fx4 is less than all others...Of course us Lariat owners would be able to figure that out.... To the op, I bought my Lariat back in September and love it Nothing against the FX4, because that would have been my 2nd choice, the ride is a little smoother on the lariat than it was on the FX4 I test drove. FX4 has the stiffer suspension for off road. If you're gonna be doing a lot of off road then I'd say get the FX4, If you're using it more on the roads then the Lariat has a slightly less rigid suspension.

I love my XLT. Power locks and windows... air conditioning... Manual transfer case that wouldn't get fried... j/k
I also wouldn't want the center console or leather seats, my dad has the Fx4 and it rides great, but what use is a crewcab that seats 5 people? and that leather is coooold in the winter!

Did or do they ever make a FX4 without the center shift console?

i have a 06 lariat, and love it. If you have the money go for the KR!, but i also heard the fx4's are an inch higher than the reg 4x4s. not real sure though

Where'd you hear the FX4s are taller? They may have come with a taller tire package, but I haven't seen anything suspension wise.

Personally not a fan of the KR interior, I'd rather have the Lariat and the cash.

Ya'll left out the XL!

As my '06 came from Ford:

4.6 v8
8.8 rear axle
rubber floors
vinyl seats
manual windows/locks
no cruise
floor shift 4x4
scab windows don't roll down

and I've noticed it sits about 1-2" higher than a similar xlt. (i parked next to a truck just like mine today, but xlt, and the top of his bed was level with the top of my taillight) I guess all those fancy cushy things weigh it down a little
