XLT is the most common of them all if your just looking for a good truck with minimal bells and whistles go for the XLT. The FX4 is an offroad version with different shocks, skid plates, and different gauge cluster. The lariat is the luxury package which 90% of the time has captains chairs and center console. If you want the best of both worlds and you can find one get the Lariat with the FX4 package. It took me a month of auctions to find mine but i absolutely love it.....Luxury and i can go anywhere off road!

Here is a short summary
1. FX4 - 4x4 and a sportier style truck
2.XLT- mid grade truck with pretty standard power features
3.Lariat - more luxury style truck
A search of the forum will give you more detailed information on each trim level.

It was asked before. My fully loaded XLT has smaller rear end, no leather and different cluster then FX4 has (well not sure if leather is standard on FX4). Lariot has the luxary gauge cluster and forget what else but considered top of line street. I consider FX4 top of line off road. You can find better answers if you google search.

Fords For Life
Yeah as he said the models dont exactly narrow it down completely. Every truck is different. I have an 05 FX4 but I also have power seats, center console, moonroof, power rear sliding window. So you really just have to look at each truck because even though one XLT has this the next XLT wont. I personally think a luxury FX4 is the way to go. You get the best of both worlds. I also think that the gauges in the FX4 are better than the lariat but thats just my personal opinion. Either way your getting a Ford which is a great truck. Welcome to the Forum you will find tons of great stuff on here.
