Default Noob, considering this 2005 STX

Hello all,
Over the past year or so I have been thinking about getting a pickup to replace my 205,000 mile Jeep Cherokee. I really like the look of the step-side bed, and the color white, as well as extended cab so this narrows down my choices considerably.

Here is a truck I found. It is lacking power windows and locks, but I searched and found the roll-up regulators can be replaced with factory power ones and a couple switches added (I do all work myself on my vehicles, so it's no big deal). Buttons look worn off radio, I assume aftermarket DIN mounts are available.

The dealer is asking $8,800 for the truck, said he could knock a few hundred off, shipping will be just under $1,000 to my door. One big benefit to me is no rust (rust around here [Long Island] stinks).

What do you think? The mileage is 130K. Wouldnt want more miles, but less brings the price way up. I also like how the STX has body matched bumpers, looks like FX4 does too. Never purchased a vehicle from any dealer, but this looks OK.

Thanks,
John

Looks like a decent truck but I would refuse to be seen driving it with those little tires on it!

HA! This will be my daily driver!

My diesel Jeep CJ-7 (Cummins turbo 3.9L 4BT, NV4500, AtlasII, D44's on 35" tires) is the "play" [summer] vehicle.

The 4.6 is a strong motor, but do yourself a favor and get a programer for it since they are a little on the slow side.

Thanks, but I find my 190HP Cherokee 4.0L I-6 to be more than adequate, this V8 should be great. BTW, I use Motorcraft filters in my Jeep (Fl-1A), and the Fl-820S (IIRC) in a relatives 4.7L Grand Cherokee (both rated very well on BITOG).

The CJ is a diesel, Cherokee is a gasser. In any case I don't need fast acceleration (both are slow).

Not sure what planet your from but.... Here on earth, the 4.6 is anything but strong. It's a reliable engine but strong it is not!

Thank you for the grammar lesson, by saying strong I meant realiable.
