Fuel Pump Driver Module- Check yours!!

Was underneath last week to diagnose a loose diff breather and was greeted with this. It actually completely separated and had been resting on top of the spare. With all the snow and rain we've been having, I'm surprised I didn't get stranded anywhere.
Great price on if you're still looking around.

So was your problem the module or no? I'm having the same problem with my 2010 f150, replaced the fuel pump and still same problem...truck started worked good now again won't start at all! And my module looks like yours pictured but can't figure out how to unclip it! HELP please

No it wasnt the module.
I unbolted the module 1st & then unclipped it for inspection.
I also removed the ground to inspect it.
Nothing was out of the norm.
Sorry but I never fully diagnosed the shutting off issue.
To give ya a idea of my issues.
A couple times with in a few months from each other the engine would stumble & almost shut off (heard the chain lap once during 1 of these incidences).
This was when I decided to drop my spare tire & removed the fuel module for a visional inspection.
1 afternoon I left the house & about 1-2miles down a 4 lane highway the engine just shut off & so I coasted to the side of the road & turned my flashers on.
I wasn't looking to fully diagnose the issue but just to get it running (sun was setting & I had my family with me as we were going out for a family night)
I 1st tried restarting it.
I then tried holding the gas peddle to the floor & spun the engine over a few times & then released the throttle (in case oil psi was to low for the timing parts to work correctly, had no way to verify anything).
I waited a few minutes & tried again.
I then unhooked the battery & waited a few minutes.
After about a total of 30min sitting on the side of the road the engine finally started, I drove it on into town (about a mile) with no issues the rest of the night.
At this point was when I decided to go ahead & replace my VCT solenoids, phasors, tensioners, chains & oilpump.
(the phasor noise & that 1 time chain slap is what lead me this direction 1st, as I wanted to do it as a preventive maintenance measure & to also rule it out as the cause of the engine shutting off)
Ive since drove 4800 miles since Ive replaced those parts with no more running issues.
Just drove it on a trip 4hrs away & 4hrs back a few weeks ago & planning to make that trip again in a few weeks.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Hey guys
Read all the problems with fuel modules ,I have used 09 XLT 70K miles
, so let down spare and lubed cable. Don't know for sure if I found location for module. Looks to be all plastic not the alum. that others show, this device has 8 or 9 wires and is mounted on cross member above spare just left of tire lift winch , (when viewed from rear of truck.). It has a mount that sets up the module about 3/16 of inch. looking closer with mirror to read top see a paint pencil mark 1- 12. I am thinking it was replaced in Jan of 2012. Tell me if I have proper location ,if so it looks like it was replaced with something off another compatible ford ( runs great) . Am I good to go?
thanks for forum and advice
Dave

truck tried turning over nicely, but didnt crank.fuel issue? i tried everything, nothing work.yeah it got me all puzzled.
fuel pump sensor module was unmounted, corroded in half.new one's cost is ridiculous.
simple and cheap fix: rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) fixed it great (tooth brush too).rubbed/squirted alcohol on the inside (revealing the motherboard or chip) around for a few mins, shook it,and set it out to dry, wrapped in a cpl small ziplock baggies (so no more debris or dirt gets in),zipped tied back on the railing, snapped it back on the harness, bingo, been working terrific ever since for the past 2 weeks (knock on wood).
I don't know about all of you.i love to save money using tricks of the trade.
