Fellas, after months of procrastinating I finally decided to check my FPDM. My truck is an 08 and has been in north Florida its whole life, so corrosion has never really been an issue. But when I moved to south Florida and going to the boat ramp (sal****er) every weekend, I noticed my stainless exhaust tips started rusting.
Long story short, my FPDM was fine, just a small amount of surface oxidation. Instead of putting it back up as is, I modified it to prevent future corrosion.
After a few passes with a wire brush
I had some scrap pieces of Starboard laying around, and this one was PERFECT. Didnt have to cut it or anything. I drilled the holes to line up with the ones on the module, and sandwiched a piece of vapor wrap between them to cushion against vibration.
Fits perfectly!

Just recived my new dorman FPDM from amazon. It looks like whatever RTV seal they put between the black and silver pieces is uneven between each side, as well as where the electrical connector recess is. Overkill on one side and skimped on the other.
Its hard to see in the pic, but the rtv seals only a small area around the connector, the rest of the area surrounding the connector has an open recess. Would this be an issue for water getting in?
Just trying to get an idea if i should send it back or not. Dont plan on having to buy another one of these down the road.
Thanks
Jon

I just paid $58 for the Dorman replacement FPDM so hoping that's what's causing my problems. I went ahead and ordered the Accel Supercoil Pac's as well, along with New Spark plugs, Being that I know 1 of my coil packs are bad and have never been replaced. Thanks for the info!

I know this is the 2004-2008 tread but this may be interesting.
My 2009 F150 has had the stalling out, shutting off issues on occasion.
I went to inspect my fuel pump control module & it looks totally different.
I removed it & its all plastic.
