That's why the advice I give is to never modify to get better gas mileage, mod because you want better performance from your truck. Some people after adding a tuner will see better gas mileage, but gas mileage is also a product of other mods and where you live. I have an Xcal II with Troyer custom tunes, a 6" lift and 35" tires and I only get 11-12 mpg's. Could have something to do with the fact that I live in Hawaii and everywhere I drive is stop-n-go.

A tuner with properly tuned custom tunes will increase HP and make your truck alot more responsive. I remember when I first added my AF1 CAI and the increased throttle response, but after I added the tuner I was like this truck is actually fun to drive. Before I moved to Hawaii and I got it out on the highways I could punch the throttle and the truck would take off. No more spittin and spuddering to try and get up enough speed to overtake that 18 wheeler. That's why you want to mod your truck and add a tuner, not for that extra 1-2 mpg's. Is it worth it? To me it was, but to you it may not be.

i just finished a 650 mile trip. I filled up at the start and went 455 miles on 23.3 gallons of gas. Not to bad considering i was doing 75 mph up and down hills the whole time with ac on. The last part of the trip only used 1/4 tank... It was 80 % highway and 20% stop and go. I calculate it at 19.5 while my gauge showed 19. This is with NO mods at all and the 5.4. The first week of June I do a 800 mile trip and will have duals on prior to this one. Im satisfied but would love to top the 20 mark

NGM, i am getting 19.5 cruising at 75-80 mph with a cold air intake and high flow throttle body. im sure that decreasing it by 10 mph would net me better gas mileage. I am looking at buying a bike to offset the amount it takes to fill up, but at the same time was looking at supplemental hydrogen injection, and was wandering since you work as a service manager if you know or have heard anything about it.

Yes I have heard of it. I do not know if its as effective as advertised or about any adverse reaction the truck might or might not have. I know the "hydrogen generators" on e-bay are crap. To have true hydrogen injection you would have to have another tank and all the hardware that goes with it.

Just took a trip down to myrtle and back. Averaged about 18.6 (using the information center) on the highway going 5 mph over the speed limit. (speed limits were mostly 70 and 65 the whole way). Next time I'll do the calcs myself to see if everything matches up.

Not to happy about the MPG, but I knew that buying the truck so i'm going to try not to complain too much
