Front Strut Assembly Replacement "Issues"
Hey guys,
I purchased a pair of Monroe Shock/Strut Assemblies for my 2007 Ford F150. It seems like a fairly easy job to complete on my own. However, I'm having trouble removing the bottom nut attached to the bushing rod that attaches to the sway bar. The bottom nut just turns and won't separate from the link but the top nut came off with no problem.
I have the same issue with the nut attached to the upper control arm. I was able to loosen the bottom nut but it won't completely disengage from the bolt.
Can anyone please tell me how I can remove these nuts that just keep turning..I'm looking for clues...Thanks!!

Hold the nut with a wrench and you see the hex shape at the end that the nut should spin over while taking off? I beleive its an 8mm, turn that clockwise. The nut will spin off far enough past the nylock part and whala.

I shall try your technique tomorrow and see if I can follow your instructions to solve this issue. It was so frustrating that I couldn't understand why these nuts wouldn't just completely unscrew off of the bolts. I sincerely appreciate your assistance. Thank you!

I also located a previous thread from Alsatropine that provided a detailed solution. Alsatrpine explained that a socket is needed to hold the spindle while an open end wrench is simultaneously used to back the nut off of the spindle.
Thanks Alsatropine!

jake_85 was spot on with his tip. I was able to remove the spinning nuts from the upper control arm/wheel spindle by securing the lower hex part of the bolt with a socket and unscrewing the nut with an open end wrench. Thanks again jake_85!!!
