Default Front End Squeak

So in the last couple of weeks my truck has developed a squeak in the front end. I have a 2006 F150 4x4. It sounds like a something rotating is squeaking. It is very high pitched. It does it during acceleration, braking, and while coasting. I checked the brakes out and they seem to be in good shape. It doesn't do it all the time, just most of the time, in both 2wd and 4x4. Anybody have any idea as to what it might be?

Thanks

check your belts, pulleys. Mine makes noise when it's cold. It's pretty quiet now that it's warming up.

If it were a belt or a pulley, I would assume that it would do it while sitting still, where it only does it while moving.

it could possibly be the ball joints. my truck does the same thing and i have read that them being bad could cause the front end to squeak.

2006 F-150 4x4 Here too. Driver's side front high pitched squeak, short duration, rotation based.

ONLY when going forward, brakes on or off, 2 or 4wd, neutral or gear.

Sounds like I have the same problem as you. I will be removing my tire this week and see if the problem is what I expect. I have never done any work on this truck other than routine maintenance so Im not sure how far I will get.

I will be checking: -the hub ( i assume it is sealed)
-the CV shaft and the joint it connects to in the tire
-steering gear
-transfer case

Anyone know if there are any universal joints down there?
Those went bad on my ol '96 and made a similar sound as this.

Ill post again on July 6 or 7 regarding this and let u know what I find.
