OK, my truck is now fixed. The dealer replaced part# 7L1Z 3C247A Actuator ASY IWE. They replaced both side as one was not holding and the other was weak. 121.53 for part x 2 plus 2.5 hours labor. So I probably got screwed on labor but they gave me 12 months 10,000KM warranty for them.

I took mine in today too. 04 F-150. I was planning on getting the right acuator put in since the left one and "new" solenoid with the "cover" was put in already in Dec 07. I took it to a dealer about 20 miles away since I don't trust my local dealer who "fixed" it the first time.

The new dealer said they had to troubleshoot it first and it could cost up to $85.00 for the hour it could possibly take. They said it should only take 15-20 minutes but just in case plan on $85.00. They said the solenoid was bad. I showed them the receipt from the other dealer and they put a new one in for "NO CHARGE". No Actuator was put in. They said try it and see what happens which I will. Now I am wondering if the local dealer even needed to put the left actuator in.

I am also currently experiencing a front end noise, but not really sure if it is the same as the one(s) previously mentioned… It happens at different times, but when it does it sounds like metal being dragged on concrete. My brake pads are good and there is ZERO vibration when this occurs.

I took it to a dealer yesterday with no such luck… Even after taking it for a drive, the mechanic never heard anything.

Was hoping for suggestions… As well as if this does in deed seem to be the same issue described earlier in this blog?

Thanks

Do you drive through water? i read somewhere that if you drive through water or splash water up hard driving through puddles, and who doesn't do that right, that some times water can get into the vac lines and actually cause the hub to engage on that side. also if you have ever disconnected the vac lines on the driver side and some how crossed them then you would hear that noise too.

No - And now that you mentioned it... I do not think it has ever happened while there has been snow or rain....

It happened to me last night (4 times) with in a 28 mile drive. But not once this morning during that same comute to work.
