Default Front Coil Springs

need to order replacement springs for the truck, is there a preference?? seen a ton of different ones out there, in particular mentioned is the moog 81118's, but the amazon fit thing says it won't fit my '05 Lariat 4x4.

are those the ones to get or should I get the Delco 45H0384

You can rent a spring compressor from auto zone... I would go with the MOOG coil springs...just make sure they are for 4WD ... not 2WD

lol if you can rent a nice one it's not as scary. I used heavy duty clamp style (2 sets - 4 total clamps) and I was scared to even think about dropping the coil on the ground lol. I was very nice to the coils haha. I don't think there's a job that has ever scared me before as seeing how much tension were on them.

I tend to be very careful around this kind of stuff, not worried about it from a safety standpoint, just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing.

any thoughts on the 81118 coils vs the 81120's??

the 120's are listed as heavy duty on rock auto, 118's appear to be standard duty, but is doesn't designate 4x2 or 4x4. in the descriptions it reads "Moog offers two types of coil springs: constant-rate springs that restore handling to its original state, and cargo-coil, variable-rate springs as an upgrade for vehicles that carry heavy loads."

sounds like the 120's are the variable rate

Why not just get the spring/strut combo and not worry about disconnecting the strut from the spring. I found a broke coil on my front left a few months ago and because of money at the time, i went with a cheap $150 set on ebay and they have actually been great. Great ride, easy to install. Had both sides changed in about 1 1/2 hours and did not have to worry about any coil spring compressors. I will probably change them out next summer but, honestly since they perform so well right now, maybe they have found their home until their warranty expires in 10 years.

I just installed the rancho loaded struts and they are one of the best upgrades I've done to the truck. Part #RS999910 if you decide to check them out.
