Default Front axle boot replacement

Can someone give me a run down on how difficult it is to replace the inner CV boot on my front axle. Directions would be great! My right side is starting to throw grease out of the inside boot. Thanks

You need to get a Haynes or Chilton F150 manual from Pep Boys or Autozone. They have an excellent write up. There are always a few items people forget to mention that you will not know you need until its too late, no matter how easy the job...

chiltons/haynes manual can't even come close to a ford tech manual, buy a set, worth there weight in gold.

depending on how the new boot is clamped, you may need a clamp tool

Do the CV joints have a special kind of grease? Or is it just regular hi temp bearing grease?

It is always nice to have the OEM Service manual, but its a couple hundred vs $15. Unless you are absolute hardcore in your weekend repairs, those Chilton/Haynes manuals are fine...definitely for replacing something like a boot...

you buy the disc off ebay for cheap less than 15 bucks. haynes/chiltons are a joke IMO, people want a step by step how to, not a overview and a few pointers.

My Hayes manual helped me a lot when i restored my 78'. They are not bad for the basics.

Hey if you can get the OEM shop manual for $15, then go for it...

As for the quality of the Haynes/Chiltons manual, its all relative... Will it give you the basic info for weekend warrior repairs, yes. Is it as detailed as the OEM shop manual, no.

I have had them for four cars and never had a problem completing a job...
