I had tried phoning the customer service number in my owners manual this morning. they weren't very helpful, I was polite and explained my situation and explained that i don't expect her to be able to resolve it... I needed to know who to contact to get this resolved without having to go to small claims court. she only advised going back to the dealership.

Bucko, you gave me GREAT INFO... I especially like how you keep reminding me to be polite (as of course i'm frustrated, but i also want results). I will try to get the reps number tomorrow.

Boy if they think that is neglect letting your car sit they are goin to throw me in the slammer. I have a 1960 chevrolet truck in the garage that has 55000 on the clock now that has to be a felony. And that is the true mileage it was my great grandfathers and he didnt drive much. Really back to the subject my wifes ford 500 had a tsb on the brakes apparently when katrina went thru the gulf they had parts in a warehouse that got damaged. Ford sent us a letter stating the brake pads would be replaced when they wore out if it was before 36000 miles free of charge. I dont know about a 05 truck tho when did katrina go thru all I know is I was parkin trains for a week before it came thru had all kind of reroutes up here in the midwest.

Update for everyone.

Dad got his money back today!! He didn't even need to escalate to the regional rep. It was all done at the dealership level.

Dad sais "Ford is taking care of it"

It probably helped alot that he is considering trading in his current 2005 F150 to a 2008 F150. They now have 5 year warranties. (He'd been considering this anyways after helping me buy my 2007 Ranger in August. If you have the money, the prices on new trucks have never been lower... now's the time to buy.)

Now some of you will argue that the dealership only reversed the bill in order to get the sale. But right now he is still considering, nothing is signed.

That does not change the fact that a warranty is a legal document. brake pads and linings are the only part of the brake assembly listed under wear items under the Ford Warranty. The rest of the brake assembly is covered by the basic 3 year warranty (5year on the 2008 Dad is considering).

I have a 6 year extented warranty I bought for the 2007 Ranger... It has a WHOLE CHAPTER of Exclusions and most of which are brake parts... that's right, my extented warranty does not cover rotors, pads, linings, calliper. (But i bought it for when a window motor goes out, interior heater or some other similar things that other drivers chose to live with... I like EVERYTHING in my vehicle to work-this warranty basically pays for the shop time for things i have no idea how to fix, but probably could do myself if i had the tools and supervision)

Being a legal document, if you are going to exclude anything it needs to be stated that the part is either exclude or is a wear item under limited warranty or is a wear item without warranty.

So, I'm taking my ranger have it's brakes looked at... ABS issues. My ranger is just over 18 months old. If repairs need to be done, my FORD warranty is gonna take care of it. Yep, going to the same dealership. (if no repairs, then i'm out a diagnosis fee)

Ford's service has been great, even tru this adventure.

The way we look at it, in three years this was their first screw up. I owned a P.o.S. Plymouth breeze that I took to the most competent Dodge dealership in town... they weren't that competent. Every repair with them I had to always bring the car back at least once. The last repair job was the last straw, and I decided to buy my widdle twuck.

And this is why Dad is probably going to own a new truck (with a new warranty, :icon_biggrin: )by Rememberance Day (if not Halloween... ). He's really been eyeing the Peublo Gold, he has plain Black.

I want to thank everyone for their tips and support.

ps.. anyone wanna buy a neglected truck. lol. just kidding.

Took it to the ford dealership to have the brakes done. (sticking- ended up being rust)

HOWEVER... because of the low mileage, they said that we misused the vehicle by letting it "sit". So the dealership said the warranty was void and we paid the repair on a credit card, they would not release the vehicle to us otherwise.

I've read and re-read the warranty manual. nowhere is it mentioned that lack of use equals missuse.... there are no aftermarket parts, and we follow the maintenance schedule.

I suspect the dealership didn't even call ford warranty.

How do i get them to honor the warranty... (I wanted to call ford warranty, but they apparently only "talk shop" with dealers, not owners...)

I'll understand the "fun" part of involving a lawyer, but most of us "average Joe's" don't have any up front money to pay a lawyer to get the ball rolling. Most lawyers would avoid this case, as they see no big money to be paid into their pockets for their effort.

You can recoop your costs if you win, but finding a lawyer to take this type of case is going to be difficult.

But it is always a good feeling to win
