Most dealers love to get teh service work from other dealers. my wifes Taurus was bought at another dealer and she didn't like their service department and i get her's in to the dealer i bought my truck from....they love it and treat her right.

I always get out of my truck at the quick lube anyways. That way I get to see them do all the checklist items, air filter, etc.
BTW does anyone else use Mobil 1 or am I a freak?

When I just simply don't have time to do it myself I take it to the dealership. The dealerships here in Ga. are actually cheaper then the "quick lube" places. I can get an oil change and filter for $19-$21 and that's Motorcraft Synblend. The local oil change places want damn near $30-$32 here! That's a no brainer...

Recently I started going to a local "quicklube" place that has a bunch of 19-25 year olds doing the simple service work. I opted for this place because of they stock Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. I switched to that however it is EXPENSIVE here in Wasilla, Alaska. I think I was paying 8 or 9 bucks a quart!
They used Napa Gold filters which I think is a step down from MotoCraft filters however the increased quality of oil and the frequent changes in my mind off-set that.
I watched the boys work (3 of them) and they looked at me as if they've been watched before. They were very professional and did a good job. Small towns tend to offer that..... In a big city, I'd be a bit more wary of "quicklube" places. I am happy. Mobil 1 Full Synthetic in my opinion is the way to go.

i do it myself in the comfort of my own garage this way i know it is right and while i do that i personally check everything and give the engine bay a quick clean job! it is not a hard thing to do and because of that im not willing to let abunch of kids at jiffylube who usually dont give 2 ***** about your truck change my oil. but if you absolutley dont want to do it yourself i would def go to the dealer before a quicklube!!

If you really want to know what is done then you have to do it yourself. The quicklube places aren't any more reliable than the dealer in my opinion. I usually take it to the quicklube places because they seem faster than the dealer. With the dealer I have to make an appt and drope it off, just don't have time for that.

I have a customers car in my shop now that needs a dashboard repair due to some 7.25 an hour tech pulling the cabin air filter out in order to try to up sell a jiffy lube service.
When I worked as a mechanic, I made a ton of money off Jiffy Lube because of their screw ups. One near me used to toss away the washer on the drain plugs. We had an open work order with their insurance company and were replacing long blocks on a regular basis. My friends 87 Mustang GT to this day still has one of those stupid condom type drain plugs Jiffy Lube used to put in, because they stripped his oil pans plug hole. We are planning on pulling the engine this summer to fix it after 22 years.
I wouldn't let Jiffy Lube near a car of mine.

I will definately give them first shot at my next vehicle purchase.
Ask your local dealer(s) if they have a monthly email that they send out.
