Default Ford dealership or a quicklube?

Where is it better to go to for your oil changes and tune ups? The dealership or a quicklube place. Who does the better job?

Iv had a few instances at Jiffy lube where they didn't change the filter. All they would do is wipe it clean. I began to watch them do the change, and even ask for the filter that came off, and i could tell they were not happy about doing it.

Excuse me for the dumb question but even though I did not buy my truck from the actual dealership they can still do the work on it right?

The dealership where I bought my truck does an oil change with 5w-20 semi synth for about 45 bucks, my gripe is they do not use a Motorcraft filter. I get a pretty hefty discount from the NAPA store where I used to work, so I buy NAPA Gold filters that are made by Wix for about 5 bucks a shot, and have them use my filter. They knock 5 bucks off the bill, so for 40 bucks I'm out the door. At some point I'll do it myself, but since I am already changing the oil on 6 other vehicles I don't mind letting the dealer do this one.

If you want to learn the true meaning of hell, change the oil on a Porsche... effn schitbox chick car...

I prefer my driveway. I don't trust other people under my hood. Especially not the dealership.

agreed. Every time i've been to a jiffy lube or dealership they've cranked down my oil filter down so hard its impossible to get off.

Plus its cheaper

And it keeps you in touch with your truck. I like to see whats going on underneath. I also like to see the used oil and filters condition while draining.

the dealer quick lube guys have a walkway between the 2 bays, and I can hang out there and chat with them no problem. The truck is never out of my sight.

I hated it when I was a mechanic and people tried to watch me work, so I usually engage them in shop talk about current trends in the business. We get along pretty well.
Kind of professional courtesy.
