what he is saying is that 30,000k lumen bulbs sure put out more light, making it brighter than a stock halogen, but after i would say 8000k the usable light output is reduced. Try driving on a dark rainy night and you will see what we mean. I used to own a 96 audi a4 with projector lights and a 6000K hid kit and i even had problems seeing in the rain, where as my truck with facotry halogens, sure may put out less light, but has more USABLE light than a 30,000K hid kit, hell i didn't know they made 30,000 k kits

sike

yes i d0 understand that the light is scattered but i have had the halogen lights and i can see much better with my 30k hids (even at night) since the light is scattered 300% brighter i can see wider range and a further range making it easier for me to see ... in the fog i have seen trucks coming from a far distance and i can clearly see a vehicle equipped with hids but i have trouble seeing a vehicle equipped with halogen lights.. my f0cus has projector headlights with 20k and it is less brighter than halogen because the projector f0cuses the light beam. but in headlights that do not have a projector lens hids will be brighter in my opinion ...

yes i been in carss that have purple and also green hids and those arent bright ... but it also depends on some brands because some consider 30k to be deep blue and others consider it to be purple.

thanks guys, that's the point i was trying to get across that the new lights may look brighter but put out less lumens then stock bulbs because of the color. yeah i have 6000k's and i like them a lot. i use to have 8000k's and if it was raining or the road was wet you cannot even see it, it just looked pitch black, very difficult to drive with. i can only imagine how bad it will be with the 30000k.

but your light is not 300% brighter. if you had 4300k hid bulbs then yes that would be correct but with 30000k hids you're lights put out less lumens than a halogen bulb, did you look at the chart i posted awhile back. like was said earlier your lights appear to be brighter because they are in the wrong housings and thats why you can see other people that have them in fog better. what lets you see them better is whats called glare and it comes from the reflector housing. oh and hids in projectors will always outperform hids in reflectors. projectors focus and cast out the light in a good pattern while reflectors scatter it everywhere.
