flywheel or torque converter?
Hey guys, I have a 2004 f150 4x4 with a 4r75w. Had the tranny rebuilt 5000 miles ago. Just recently I started getting a sound from the bell housing. Sounds like a playing card against wheel spokes. It sounds is in sync with the RPMs. Does really start until the truck has warmed up a lil bit. I have taken the inspection plate off and it gets louder inside the bell so using with it off. What are your thoughts? TC nuts are tight...

I've got a similar sound. Mechanic ran a diagnostic and we ended up replacing the phasers, tensioners, valve guides and timing chains. Now it makes a similar, but different noise. Thinking it might be the TC but I'm not sure exactly. Any thoughts?

The flexplate popping noise is audible at idle. A careful listen while the truck idles will lead you underneath. It will almost sound like it's coming from the oil pan. ( very scary thought) But you find the noise is loudest at the bell housing. When standing beside the truck the sound will be the loudest when standing by your side mirrors.

The popping will increase with rpms. You may have yourself a cracked flexplate.
