Default Flowmaster or magnaflow

Alright guys I am trying to decide between Flowmaster or magnaflow as a muffler. I've heard you loose power with the flowmaster. Is that true?

I have a Flowmaster 44. While I have not heard the Magnaflow series in person, I don't need to. I am confident I would not be more content with another muffler. I'm 100% satisfied with this one.

BTW, the idea that you lose power with a Flowmaster is... unfounded, for lack of a better word. Just about anything will be better than your stock muffler, and the only Flowmaster muffler that will straight-up cause you to LOSE power would be the 80 series. I haven't felt power loss at all, and the sound is music (to me). Rudely wakes my wife up at 0500 when I start up to go to work in the morning.

(edit)

Well I guess I shouldn't say "unfounded" because yeah, you will lose a few horsepower, but no more than around 10ish. It's worth the sound boost, IMO. I'm not building a racer here and I have an SCT tuner to help me out with performance anyway.

Flowmaster will lose you more horsepower than any straight through muffler, but the difference is not huge. The reason is because of Flowmaster chambered mufflers. The advantage to chambered though, is the idle sound, which is much more noticeable the Magnaflow. Personally, I have a Maganaflow system and would buy it again. At idle there is still a nice low rumble and when you give it some gas is where that ledendary sound comes from.

I have a flowmaster super 44 muffler on stock exhaust system and haven't felt power loss. I love the roaring sound of this muffler when accelerating. At idle it's not too loud but nice and deep. I would buy it again...

Borla was the best from my experience.

But between flowmaster and Magnaflow, Magnaflow. I had a Flowmaster on my XLT and couldn't stand the drone. It was obnoxiously loud too. Swapped to a Magnaflow 12588 model and was very pleased. Nice rumble inside and out.

I had true dual flowmasters on my 2005 and everyone I who ever heard it had a comment on how loud it was. But I loved it
