Do you mind sharing how much this ends up setting you back? I'd be interested in doing it as well. I *hate* the normal ticking.

i just did the cam phasers, probly should have done the tensioners while i was in it, but cam phasers are 241 each by me and i asked for 10% off or ill go to the next dealership, and new oil and filter. so under 500. my buddy jus shaved and shaped a screw driver handle to use as the wedge, but it worked.

can anyone tell me if the computer needs to be reflashed or programed after the cam phazers have been installed?

The procedure in the service manual doesn't include it. You'd probably want to do an idle relearn though.

before you take the phaser off, use a metallic marker and mark a tooth on the phaser and where it sit on the chain. take that one off, put the mark on the same spot on the new phaser and put that tooth in the marked chain link. there is no change in the engine or computer. jus do not let the cams slip then you will have a problem. use a pair of vise grips on the cam to hold it in place when you push the new phaser on.

good advice. Had one slip and had to reset both chains. PITA. Still getting p0010,0011,0340,0345 codes though. Finally broke down and sent it to the "ford guy". A machanic friend sent me there. Says this guy is the man with fords. All kind of tech awards and stuff. We'll see after this weekend. I reall hope its something stupid that I did or missed.
