I am going to get burned but those prices do not seem out of line. All businesses have many expenses that need to be paid. The building costs, electric, all types of insurance, labor, taxes, tools, continuing training, and so forth.
Would I pay those prices? No. That is why I learned to do almost all common repairs myself. I also help friends and family with repairs too, but I really enjoy working on cars.
It is a coincidence that the OP is talking shocks and struts because I just took advantage of a $60 rebate from Monroe so I was able to do all 4 corners on my 2004 Mazda 3 for $145. Thanks to Rockauto for the awesome pricing also.
