Default Finally over the hill! (100k)

Went to San Diego this last weekend with my gf for some good vacation time. Made sure to check all of the fluids before we left and took a quart of SuperTech 5w30 just in case lol. Anyways, my truck finally turned over the magical 100k mile mark! During the trip, I got between 15-17 mpg with mostly 90 mph cruising on the interstate. To my surprise, the truck used 0 oil (QSUD 5w20 with 1 qt of Lucas HDOS). I know, I know...Lucas....anyways...the truck ran great, didn't miss a beat, and got decent mileage to boot! I love this thing and hope to flip that odometer many more times. PS - I bought it used in immaculate condition w/ 61,368 miles with a 36k bumper to bumper warranty back in December of 2014. Never once used the warranty. Love this thing!

Cool.
My 2004 XLT just turned over 85,000.
Still problem free and running strong.
I like it so much I wont even test drive a new one.

Why take a quart of 5w-30 if you had QS 5w-20 in the engine?

Good to hear! Keep for another 100K!

It doesn’t really matter, the Lucas turns the proper 5w-20 into thick glop that is more likely to foam up. Lucas is useful to get more life out of a very worn engine that’s leaking or burning, that's about it.

It really is. My Jeep Cherokee XJ has 223,000 miles. As long as it doesn’t rust away and the engine/transmission stays in one piece, keep driving it!

I just took a qt of my stash oil for make up if it burned any. I have had good luck so far with Lucas as far as making the engine stop burning. I have not noticed any foaming due to the fact the the crank should never come into contact with the oil, thus preventing the "Churning" effect. Also, if you shake any bottle of oil, it will bubble...but enough about that LOL

Truck ran fantastic! Next weekend it's plug time. Thankfully should be smooth since I have the updated head design

At only 100,000 I sure hope your engine is not burning oil. My Ranger now has over 300,000 and does not burn oil.

I have a Caravan that is right at 250,000 and does not burn oil (lets not talk about transmission ;-) ). Never have to change transmission fluid, just change the transmission regularly.

My F150 only has around 130,000 miles so it is still a baby. I only use Motocraft syn-blend and never any additive. I once discussed this with a engineer at one of the major oil companies and he stated "If you have to add additive to the oil, you need another oil".

It's not unusual for the 5.4 3v to consume some oil. I've seen brand new engines consume up to 3 qts every 5k and is considered 'normal'. Google 5.4 oil consumption or, even better, subaru oil consumption....
