I'm definitely not saying they don't fail , im trying to work thru a problem i'm having with parts already installed. im pretty sure in this case i could go buy all of the Motorcraft parts and when re-installed i would be in the same boat because my error has not been corrected. either the way i set it before i took it apart, cam did move after i took the chain off but in the past i moved it back in place and lined up the chain and and my marks on the cam and was fine.

Are you saying one chain is dead on and the other is off a tooth?

So either the chain jumped or you put it on wrong.

Ive got the single link on the mark on the crank and the double link split over the marks on the cam phasers. when you say i put it on wrong what are you thoughts? dont have the links lined up correctly, have it on backwards?

Ive got everything lined up EXCEPT the marks I put on the cam before i took the timing chains off.

Im thinking about taking it back apart and switching the sides the chains are on to see if the one is stretched?? im running out of ideas to try to fix this.

Wait... you said the chain was off a tooth a minute ago. Now you're saying it's lined up just fine... I don't understand what the actual issue is...

My first post:
"Now i have the timing chains on ,the guides , tensioners etc chains links are were they should be but the marks i put on the cam on my passenger side is off ..looks like maybe a tooth off. The other side is dead on and i cannot figure out what i did wrong."

If the marks on the chain and the marks stamped into the sprockets are lined up properly, you're timed. The question is, with the tensioner installed, is there any give to the cam shaft?

ok i will check the camshaft for give, if there is no play with everything lined up like it is i should be safe to hand crank the motor over at the crank to check for any interference..Correct?

Yes. But in good conscience, I cannot tell you to put everything back together as is. Not with those Dormans in there. Read this thread. You will find plenty of Dorman failures and they are not pretty.
