Any ideas?
Are your cam phasers gone?

My truck would do the same thing and the engine would start pinging and banging too. It is all associated to the cam phasers if so after changing mine it was fine. That being said the cam phasers are gone again and I am goin to be puting in the lock outs.

Got a question about the cam phaser upon chain removal, not sure if it was already posted...i just don't really have the time to read 147 pages lol. Any help will be greatly appreciated. So i took the chain off of the driver side phaser, the phaser was spring loaded and turned what i believe to have been an inch or so to the left (facing engine from front of car), my question is : do i line up the phaser where it previously was? or do i line it up where it is now?

I would take it all apart and start over. If you get the timing marks lined up, you should be fine. Just rotate the phaser back to where it was, and line it up with the mark on the chain. The write up for that is on page one

i originally put marks on the chain and phaser and chain and sprocket before i removed anything, would i not just be able to line these marks back up and install? and did the cam phaser spring back because it is broken or is that normal?

Default Recently serviced

my 2004 f150 was recently serviced.
After a stop at the bank when I attempted to restart the vehicle the truck failed to keep itself running. I took it to a local mechanic where installed ford's timing kit, 2 CPs on the passenger side. After i picked up the vehicle it still had the diesel sound but ran fine which I was good enough with.

Later on through usage the truck's battery gauge became faulty (sometimes on normal often at the zero position.)

The truck now has a horrible acceleration. From 1800 - 2000 there's a horrible buzzing / humming sound coming from the passenger side and fuel efficiency is bad. 9.4 city 13 avg highway.

I was informed by an autozone guy prior to having the truck serviced that my starter was bad.

NOTE--- The issue is temporarily fixed if I disconnect the battery and let the computer relearn, then the issue returns and once again i have poor acceleration and buzzing from 1800-2000 rpm

I'm planning on putting the livernois motorsport silencer kit put in myself.
I'll replace all injectors, I'll replace all Cps with ACCEL 140033-8 Ignition SuperCoil
I'll add k&n intake

any ideas on what the humming noise is and poor acceleration?

But why would this only occur in reverse?

Also, pardon my ignorance but what are lock outs?

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, you have to run the Livernois tune and can not stack other tunes on top of theirs.

I wish they would release or license their tune data to other tuners. I run a MPT race tune and love it, I would put the lockouts on mine but I do not want to lose my MPT tune.

I would consider the Livermore stuff if there were more guys reporting the end results and drivability and fuel mileage. Even with the phasers in full fail. I got 16-17.5 mpg towing my small car trailer. Our Titan got 12-13 mpg pulling the same trailer.

So, lets here about these lock outs and the Livermore tunes effect on mileage and torque, hp.

Are your cam phasers noisy?

To be honest I am not sure why it only happens in reverse, I am guessing due to the low gearing and the load you are putting on the engine, all I know I when I fixed it it all went away and I can assure you that is your problem.

The Livernois lock outs remove the spring in the camphaser and get rid of the the variable cam timing so no more chance of failure in the future.
