I have a very similar box except mine goes across under the backseat a little more, I also have two kicker CVR 10's, not the shallow ones though with a kicker 750.1 amp and absolulty love it. the subs slam hard and I have run that amp w/ the subs slamming for an hour and the amp was barely warm.

well just added a couple alpine type r speakers for the front of my truck. the tweeters are really nice to have, adds extra dimension to the sound. install was very easy all tho a did have to open the hole for the tweeter a little and the adapter plate holding the speaker had some plastic sticking off the side that had to go but it was nothing a pneumatic dremmel couldnt fix. my one 10" kicker just isnt cutting it any more. i have 2 subs installed now but only one is hooked up due to the lack of power from my amp. a new amp for the subs will be next.
I was wondering what type of speakers you installed in your back doors of your truck. I'm already looking at getting the Alpine Type R. Found a place online where i can get them for about $130 a pair.

im running these in the back http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=269-326
i was running them all the way around but im slowly upgrading. the rear will get type r's eventually but for now, these ford premium speakers are fine. they do suprisingly well with an amp on them.
i paid $130 for my type r's as well

Seems you and I going for a simular setup. I got the new Kenwood DNX8120 on reserve at www.wickedcas.com and plan on getting the Type R speakers for the doors from www.onlinecarstereo.com. I'm also planing on getting the Alpine MRP-F550 amp to run the door speakers. I already have two Kicker CompVR 10's under the back seat powered by Kenwood 1100 watt amp. Also in the works are rear seat monitors with wireless headphones, and backup camera. The only other question I got for you is how do you plan on mounting the tweeter when you change out the speakers in the back doors? I think I would perfer them hidden like the ones in the front doors. Just wondering what your thoughts were?

I was hoping I could get some opinions for impending upgrade. I have a 05 Supercab. I bought a pair of Kicker RS 6.5" components for the front. I would love to hear more about how you opened the hole for the tweeter in the door. Also the location of you crossover seems genius to me.
I've opted to not install traditional subs yet. I bought a pair of Kicker CompVT 6.5" shallow mount subs for the rear doors. If these don't cut it, I have a set of Polk dB 6.5's to hold me over until I install a sub. All the speakers are going to be run to an 800.4W Kenwood amp I've had for a couple years with a 1 fared cap. Does anyone know about these small subs? Where is a good place to mount the amp?
Also, the head unit is getting replaced with a Dual DVDX8285. It's a double din touchscreen with all the trimmings. I've heard nothing but god things about it. So again, any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I can't give you any opinions on the speakers. But far as tweeter being mounted in the front door. I got a 2005 Lariat crew cab and there are spots already in the door to mount the tweeters.

i found that if the subs face down they reverberate off the floor and they seem louder. I got 2 jl 10w3v2's with a 10" head and 5.75" mount depth facing down with about an inch air gap between the box (sealed) and floor. I built my own box and becuse the jl 1000/1 which im using is so big i put it back behind the seat and i was able to get some room over the driveshaft hump for a little box (because the volume of the box for the subs would be to big for the jl specs (.625 cu. ft.)). that is where i keep my jack and hitch. btw im more then happy with all of that power.

hurricain, im not sure what to do about the rear tweeters. i think i might just go with the type r coax that doesnt have a devorced tweeter, it just sits in the middle of the speaker. the rear speakers are more for fill anyways. i have sat in the back of my truck and you can hear the music coming from the tweeters that are in the front loud and clear so i dont think i really need a rear tweeter.
mikeltn, i opened up the hole for the tweeter using an air grinder. basically a dremel that ran on compressed air. a dremel would work fine. if you wanted to do it the old fasioned way, you could even use a file, it would just take a lot longer
