Plugs were done 5000mi ago. Coils are still original. To me the motor seems strong. When the shaking is happening you can still step on it with no hesitation.

My mechanic was supposed to check those and he never said anything about them being bad but tomorrow I'm going to jack up the back end and put It in drive to see if I have any wobble in the wheels and I'll check the u joints myself while I'm at it.

Coils are a good suspect then. A classic sign they are going bad is the rumble strip feel between 45 and 55 when accelerating in OD.

Sure a bent axle would be bad all the time at high speeds. Axle wrap can come and go based on speed and road condition, I'd at least discuss it with your mech. I have a buddy with a 4wd dodge and they're notorious for big blocks hence a lot of axle wrap and he describes it just like this. But its still possible with little to no block, especially under load.

I hope you figure it out!

This weekend I'll be changing the u joints. Then if the problem still happens, I'll switch tires and rims with my dad's truck since it's the same. Hope it something that simple. I have a feeling it isn't though.

Ill have to check that out. lll be on the highway today so itll give me a chance to see.

I went back to RI this week and the truck was fine. A little shake in the steering wheel but nothing like what ive been describing. Where this problem is so intermittent, it is like trying to find something that is only there once in a while.

I went to change out my u joints and realized that they are the non serviceable ones. So ordered my new drive shaft from Ford today. My question is, since now I don't have my line to match up to the differential, what do I have to do to balance this? or do I? Anybody know if I can just throw it in or?? Thanks.
