Default 08 5.4l weird bog/knock

Just traded for this truck a week ago, ran great, low miles.

Today as I was pulling up a slight incline I let off the throttle and the idle went to around 500rpm, started running really rough and making this terrible knocking noise. Goes away on its own after 3-6 seconds of it doing this, it comes out of it and runs and sounds fine.

I get home and try to replicate the issue, I find that if I put the truck in drive and hold the brake and bring the Rpms up to 1200-1500 and let off it does it.

It also did it in reverse once, but, couldn't duplicate when trying.

Anyone have an idea?
Not sure what exactly to look into.

At first I thought it was the TC not unlocking, but, don't know.
Trans fluid smells great and nice and pink, and full.
No check engine lights when this occurs, no codes either.

Will try to post a video tomorrow

Couple things come to mind, has the throttle body been cleaned? How many miles on the truck, have the plugs been changed? A misfire will give a bog or feeling like there is a transmission issue but usually will not throw a code. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Plugs were changed 20k ago.
Has 130k miles.
Not sure on the tb.

I'll get a video posted. It kinda feels like it looses its ignition timing for a bit, then gets it back.

Thanks

Fuel filter?

Mine has a bog at around 3500 under hard acceleration, doesn't throw a code. The harder I drive it the less apparent it is until I start to baby it again. It used to stall on me when coming to a stop, but again, the harder I drove it the better it got, no more stalling.

Thought about a fuel filter, but haven't changed it as it just did this for the first time, since I've owned it.

I couldn't get it to do it today yet.

What do you mean check?

If it's bad it would set a MIL and have no fuel pressure.
Fuel psi looks good and I don't have a mil light on(also have a scan tool and shows nothing)

Drop the spare tire and check the damn thing... look up at the frame rail where it's mounted at it and see if it's falling apart or not
