Default Factory remote start quit

My 04 F150 the factory remote start won't work.
It beeps twice and doesn't start. The led is constantly flashing. Blinks twice and then a pause
I read somewhere that if it beeps twice and doesn't work it is the hood switch.
I don't want to buy a new switch. Can I just bypass it?
The weather has warmed up so I guess I can take a test light to it now and find out what is going on.

Ok so it isn't the hood switch. I checked it out with the multi meter.
It opens and closes the circuit just fine.
Any other Ideas?

There's no such thing as a factory remote start. Ford might have installed it brand new, but it is a aftermarket of some kind. You would need to figure out the brand to get a wiring diagram.

Do you have the one button remote (bronze) or the 6 button remote (gold) alarm remote? 2 chirps could be the brake sensor is not working, make sure your brake switch is not stuck on.

Here are some links: http://machenry.com/documents/Gen21B...eGuide_000.pdf http://www.fordservicecontent.com/fo...structions.pdf http://machenry.com/documents/Instal...09_04_2009.pdf page 86 this is the one I used for my 07 install

Theses are a few that I found.... Search google "f150 ford gold remote start filetype: PDF" or "f150 ford bronze remote start filetype: PDF" and you might find more... With no space between filetype: and PDF

How do you start it then? What combination of buttons.... If you are using the factory 4 button remote and you lock unlock lock or something like that, it's an add on and truly not a ford branded remote starter i would guess.

Looks like a gold one. I pulled it out to check the fuses.

i noticed that same module under my dash not too long ago. when i bought the truck used from the dealer the only key and fob the gave me was a lock/unlock one. Would i have to get a new gob to get the remote start to work?
