F150 Speaker Problem
Hello F150forum,
I recently replaced my speakers with Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683s. I hooked them all up and started the radio, only to hear one work on the front passenger side door. Upon further inspection the front driver side door speaker had a socket between the positive and negitive terminals of the speaker. Could this have shorted the speakers out? Or did I do something wrong in wiring them and I'm able to fix it? please help

Measure the impedance of your speaker. If it reads open then its no good. If it reads between 0 and 16 depending on your rated speaker impedance then you have a good speaker. And make sure you do that with the speaker completely disconnected from anything else. Next i would measure the wires and test for any continuity. Does your truck have tweeters in the front doors also? And if you do im assuming you have a crossover?

its possible both have a dead short but usually when they burn up they have an open. What kind of meter are you using? If you dont think its the meter then i would try testing the wires and see if anything unusual comes up. If all tests good it might just be the head unit. But i would do some more testing before making that conclusion.
