Interesting question with an obvious answer based on your info provided - get the 2wd. I happen to have 2 F150's, both are XLT SCabs. Ones a 97 short bed while the 07 is a long bed heavy half. Both have good riding characteristics, more room than a regular cab, you don't have to worry about front axel or hub issues. We get snow here, both have LS rear ends, snow tires on them and they do very well for me.

I just bought the 07 a few months ago with 20K miles, 5.4L engine, 4.10 LS and it was under your limit so they are out there.
