Default Which f150 should I get?

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I'm trading my Infiniti G35 coupe in ASAP because I'm tired of having a small car, it's just a pain and not very practical. I'm looking to get a 2005-2007 F-150 to replace it. I'm only going to have roughly $15,000 to get the truck.

My question for you guys is this - because of the money I have, I have two options - I can get a truck with 4wd but only a regular cab and just very basic or I can get a rwd extended or crew cab that is nicer. I live in Oklahoma and wouldn't need to use 4wd very often even if I had it; probably only 5-10 days out of the year would it be necessary for snow and ice. Which do you guys think would be the better choice for me? I'm a freshman in college so it would only be used for normal city/highway driving - no towing or anything. Thanks for any help!

By the way- these two options are really the only things my parents are letting me trade my g35 for.

I'm basically just wondering if 4wd would actually be worth getting a not as nice truck even if I don't use it to tow stuff or go off-roading. I'd mainly want it for crappy Oklahoma weather. The other 340 days of the year, I won't need it at all.

Also, does anyone have any specific advantages/disadvantages to having a specific cab size beyond just the obvious having more room?

I have the screw, I started off buying my first truck a do I dare I say a reg cab dodge 1500 found myself longing for more room, next one a dodge 1500 ex cab still after awhile needing more room, the last and FINAL!!! dodge 1500 quad cab was better. Then I bought my baby finally a truck with enough room I will never go back to anything less. But it's to each is own all depends what your looking for. As for the 4x4 or 2 wheel drive thing personally would never own a 2 wheel I like the thought of knowing I can likely get out of most situations as far as weather or mud. I also like the higher stance of a 4 wheel drive.

You'll use the extra space and enjoy the nicer interior on the 2wd a whole lot more often than you would 4wd. So I say go with the 2wd with the bigger, nicer interior. You've survived without 4wd in Oklahoma so far, so it won't be any different. Of course, if you could find a way to get the bigger, nicer interior AND 4wd, that's the ticket. If not, just stick with the 2wd. Sounds like it would benefit you more.

For 15k you can get both if you look around. I just bought my 05 lariat scab 4x4 with 25k miles on it for 16 thousand. My boss is selling his 04 lariat screw 4x4 with 120k all highway miles for 11,900 but I am in CT so it would be a long ride.

I don't know if you're going to be able to find many 4wd supercrews '05-07 for $15k in your area. Personally, I have had a 2wd F150 and I have a 4wd now, and you will love having the 4wd even for the little that you might need it. I do love having the supercrew, and I can tell you that it was also a huge step up from the regular cab. For right now, for your budget and needs, I would say get a supercab, 4wd, with the 4.6L since you won't be towing. Like this: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

Look around more dont buy right away unless you need to. I bought my truck and 05 F150 FX4 for 13.9 Grand and mines a Supercab and was in great condition and came with what I really wanted: a moonroof and 4 wheel drive. I guarantee you wont regret getting a for though. Welcome to the forum hope all goes well!!!

hey, this thread caught me as funny because I was in an almost identical situation back in november. i had an 06 g35 coupe 6 speed and wanted to get rid of it for the same reason. I got a sweet deal on my 05 4x4 super cab w/flareside bed on a trade. ended up cutting my car payment by almost 100 bucks a month and insurance is about 30 a month cheaper. Absolutley no buyers remorse, I love my truck! Oh and I live in florida and went with the 4wd. I don't go off road much and it obviously doesn't snow here either but i still wanted 4wd. Went to northern michigan and pennsylvania over the holidays to visit family....loved having the 4wd to "play" in the snow. however, i did manage to get it stuck when i was blazing a trail out across this field...was doin about 30 across that sucker just plowing snow then hit a big drift and it went no further...snow was up to the bumper and the stock tires with no lift did no justice...hahahah
