I don't know about the truth to this and I am asking.............I have an 04 Scab with a one piece driveshaft, the front universal went out. I tried to replace it my self but was unsuccessful. I took it to a driveshaft place and the guy told me it would be very expensive to fix due to the universal joints only sold by ford and are staked in which requires a special tool to remove them. Said okay, took the shaft to ford dealer to have them replace the u-joint. They said it can't be done, the drive shaft is a replace item, $400 unless I could get my truck into them them my $100 deduct. would apply and they would replace it.

Is this for real?? This is the first time I have ever heard of a non-fixable universal jointed drive shaft.

They usually call driveshafts "barras" in spanish, although thats the slang term. Anyways, anyone have any more info on these "staked" universal joints on the newer fords?
