boy that's alot of weight for the front end. also everything else powertrain wise is going to suffer from all that torque. but i bet she'd go. you'de also have to swap trannies and change the fuel system. alot of expense.

Is the engine bay large enough for a diesel?

Although Ford currently offers a 355-hp 6.8-liter gasoline V10 and a 325-hp 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel from Navistar International as options in its Super Duty pickups, neither engine fits into the light-duty F150.

"Neither engine fits into the F150." can mean that the engine bay is not configured the same as the F250 series and not necessarily that the F150 is not big enough to hold one. I think you could fit a diesel into an F150 with some modifications to the engine bay and motor mounts, etc. Not saying it would be easy, or practical, but I think it could be done.

Ford should offer a diesel for the F150 and not make people go to the F250 or F350 to get one.

I''m pretty sure the new 4.4 litre diesel is suppose to be available in late 08 for the F150.

unless you bought a complet truck as a donor truck for a good price.it would be cheaper to buy a diesel truck.and yes i have helped a friend in doing that type of swap.myself and 2 other buddies did it once to help out a friend.i never drank so much in my life.lol untill the next project stuffing a 383 stroker into a vega .lets not go there.
