Funny, my insurance carrier (USAA) doesn't care how many times I call them, and anytime I've called them about coverage my bill has gone down or remained static. I hit a deer, they helped me out with no issues, and suggested overage options to make a repeat of the same scenario less expensive.

I can call my agent as often as I wish with no worries about higher rates. Allstate and I have been partners for over 40 years now.

I have called Geico many times in the last 2-3 years with no rate increase except going up $11 every 6 months because we dropped our home owners policy with them. If your rates are going up because you are calling your insurance company, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Only reason your rate should go up is for your at fault accidents and tickets. It shouldn't go up for comprehensive claims from my experience wither (although I have heard companies raising rates, may depend on the company and amount of claims?).... In this case his rate will probably go up if he doesn't have his ins fight for him because he is considered partly at fault, so I'd take the risk of having my ins company fight for me in this instance.
