F-150 totaled with no injuries

My comment was a bit off topic, so I apologize. However, if mom and dad are paying for it, then ur kinda limited as to what u can get. Sorry bro, been there done that when I was younger. Don't care if ur 16, 18, 25, or 40..... If ur parents are gracious enough to help u in ur time of need, u should respect it. (Not saying u don't, but if it ain't ur money, then u really can't complain) Bein in college, I would also recommend gettin something easy on gas as well. But if ur dead set on an F-150, u can't go wrong. I also can see the damage from ur pics..... Ur truck will never be the same after that kind of accident. Frame damage always takes a massive toll on any vehicle! But with that being said, a good shop mainly a Ford dealer should be able to bend that frame back down, and align it well enough for u to keep it. What angers me is when someone else is at fault for an accident, their insurance company pays, but they get away with only paying for the value of the vehicle. Their client just caused damage ur vehicle, and they should pay to restore ur vehicle back to its original state before the accident, no matter the cost. Thats because it was their clients incident that caused ur vehicle to sustain damage. That's the way it should be in my opinion! What if u only have a vehicle worth $1500, and it's all u have? They give u $1500 for ur damages, and then ur now out a vehicle, and u may not be able to find another vehicle compareable to what u had for that price. The insurance system is crap! But if their insurance is going to cover the cost, I would recommend taking it to a shop that u trust and can possibly repair frame damage, and/or directly to the Ford dealer since it's not outta ur pocket. (If it's not on my dime, I personally prefer the Ford Dealer) I know my uncle worked for a one, and after I had significant front end frame damage on my 03 F-150, the shop at the dealer was able to bend my frame back in place to allow to get all my steering components, and linkages back in place! They also were able to get all my body work done properly and were still able to establish perfect lines with my bumper and fenders. I'll see if I can't find my pics of my damage, and post them for ya.

Thanks for the replies guys, wifi has been down so that's why I haven't responded. I would love to get another F-150 but my mother is being a mom and saying, "don't you want something smaller and gets better mpgs." Plus she is the one who truly decides what is acceptable. The insurance guy is going to look at it and assess the damages Friday. dos0711 I'm not sure of her speed but the road has a 45 mph speed limit and she (distracted by her phone) didn't brake much if any before hitting us (no noticeable skid marks on the pavement), I'm gonna say 30+ just by seeing how far my truck was propelled. As far as the trucks safety, I couldn't be happier with how it reacted and absorbed the contact. I don't think there's much of a better truck in its class to have a wreck in than a F-150. Hopefully the other insurance company won't be a b**ch to deal with like ours has been with our house after we were hit by a tornado in late May. Totally another story but I can say it's been a year of talking with too many insurance people about problems...
Just to be clear, I'm not taking advantage of my parents graciously offering to help pay for a new vehicle. I wish nothing more than to be able to purchase a vehicle with my own hard earned money, however being in highschool and playing baseball that takes up all my time from Jan 1 through June 30 limits me from working much. That might have come across as *ssh*l*'ish but I don't want an argument to break out over the fact that I'm supposedly a "spoiled little only child private school kid that can't do anything for himself." Everything done to the truck was with my money. Rant over, sorry to get off topic. Anywho, I'll update y'all on what insurance says.

Glad you're okay I don't think your spoiled playing sports for part of the year and not working then is totally different from not doing anything and expecting mom and dad to buy you a car just because.

The frame look to be bent only near the rear hanger.
Over the differential it look perfectly straight (The small buldge were the bumpstop is, is normal.)
bending down the rearmost part of the frame only will pull the bed appart from the cab like yours did.
it really look that it's only were the hitch is welded to the frame that have bent.
A bit of frame master , a new bed, bumper and hitch and it's repaired.

1st, airbags are not designed to deploy in a rear-end collision. They are designed to stop the occupants safely in a frontal collision, so your truck performed as it was designed to.
2nd, while the current generation of F150s are indeed very safe vehicles, it wasn't always so. I would never own an F150 older than the 2004 generation update.
