Anything straight thru with no chambers will open your truck up.

Personally I like magnaflow. I just had the muffler, then I upgraded to a 3 inch pipe with a magnaflow muffler and did a turn down.

A straight - through type muffler like a Dynomax Bullet or a type of magnaflow are two examples. I had a flowmaster super 44 and switched to a Dynomax Ultra SS (nothing special but I wanted something a little quieter) which is a straight through type and noticed a definite improvement on throttle response.

I got a flowmaster force ii catback exhaust from autoanything.com. I have not installed it yet, but it is within your price range. It's not the loudest exhaust based on the videos but it sounds like it adds a good amount of hp and a small boost in mpg.
