Ok so I thought i knew what I was talking about when it came to exhaust, then I realized I was wrong, learned what I was wrong about, then realized I was still wrong, then learned, and so on. I've built several performance exhaust systems that I now understand are not performance ALL. So I finally got some quality reading done about scavenging and pulses and all that good stuff.

But it feels like the more I read, the more I get confused about what type of mufflers are good for what, some people love glasspacks, some hate em, some swear by Flowmasters and they're baffled design while others say they gain nothing.

I'm not too concerned with specific products, just design concepts and what makes for a loud/performance muffler, a quiet/performance muffler, and a loud/not-performance muffler.
