Exhaust Question
Hello all,
I have a 2008 FX2 Sport F-150 (4.6L V8).
Im going to be getting a dual exhaust setup here in the next week or two. Now im aware of the 2 setups SI/DO or the actual 2x SI/SO exhaust setups. Now is there a big difference between loudness of those two setups or is one better for my smaller engine, since i do not have the
5.4L engine? Any advice or opinions would be great.
Thanks
BTW picture of truck in my photos.
20in Pierellis ATR Scorpions,Grey Rims, to complete black out style All came stock

Paint it black
make a intro post
if you go true duals, your going to become emmisions illegal most likely, and expensive, the sound is better
the si/do is the usual choice, the muffler makes the sound more so, mine is ok, but not loud enough, honestly if i were you id buy a nice muffler for about 100, and take it to a shop to install with thier own pipes

i actually went to a shop and they said it was roughly $400 for SI/DO, Chrome tips, and custom piping, Flowmaster Super 40, and 600 for the True dual setup as its for the extra piping and another muffler, he said for the extra $200 bucks its not worth the little sound that they have apart. He said it would be better to by a KN air performance filter or other stuff. He also said that was with 3In/2.5in piping

if you want to do it cheap, just buy a magnaflow and have it welded in using the stock pipes. if you want a catback get a full 3" from magnaflow. itll bolt right in and wont effect warranty or emissions. the little gain you get with true duals, especially with a 4.6L motor, i wouldnt spend the money. if you can bend and weld your own dual exhaust kit then i say go for it.

well price isnt really an issue, however if a SI/DO is gonna be better for my 4.6L engine then thats what im gonna go for. Just trying to figure out if the true-dual setup will work on my truck without any setbacks.

do a 2x's si/do and have quad exhaust....just kidding that would be gay....I have gone all three routes, custom catback fake dual, custom header back true dual, and custom single....IMHO buy a kit thats a fake dual and run with it....it'll be less headache in the long run and look cleaner

thats afirmative.....if you want a nice kit thats not a lot of coin, gibson makes a nice bolt on for your truck and they aren't overly expensive.....a little more than buying a muffler and having a local shop build you a kit, but at least you have a warrantied setup then with a good amount of engineering behind it...thats just my .02

well thanks dunes, yea the place i went to said it would be $500 for SI/DO setup 3in piping all the way around, chrome tips, and Super 40 Flowmater SI/DO,
they also have a lifetime warranty on the exhaust and piping which is also a plus

yeah thats a plus....how long do you plan on keeping the truck? with a boxed kit you can always return to stock to sell the truck....but I can't totally mock the exhaust shop kits as I am running a true dual kit with flowmaster series 44 from a set of pacesetter long tube headers on my bronco and I like it.....but I am running a single JBA kit on the F150 and a TB rolling big power kit on my superduty, so I can't mock any setup....it just depends on what is most important to you
