I've read that twice now actually I figured the price in the hangers would still put me ahead of shop prices though! I think I'm going to remove my spare and mount it in my bed anyway because I don't have the turn key rod thing to bring it down anyway so I'm gonna use my dads to bring it down once and figure out a mount for it.

When I had my old 4.2 I left every thing stock except for a thrush muffler I got from pep boys. I ran it with a turn down. Welded it up and called it a day. It was actually pretty good sounding just putzing around town and you really couldn't hear it at highway speeds which was good because I wasn't trying to imitate the sound of a V8 because it's just impossible.

Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...139378&alt=web

I think for the performance gains, shorties are a waste of time... they look really nice though.

Yeah the hangers don't look quality at all. Did you order some special ones or just pick some up from a parts store? I appreciate the big picture!

Oh i didn't mean that... i meant they are cheap in cost so if you need a few more, no big deal. I guess they are cheap in quality...they are the same old universal hangers that have been selling forever but they work fine and I don't forsee them failing any sooner than other style hangers... It actually worked out better than having some one wield mounts to re-use the factory mounts because i could get more pull on them to straighten and get away from the spare since they are held on with muffler clamps and bolted to the frame.

Oh I got ya now!! whoops! Sorry for the misunderstanding! I'll just pick up a few more from the parts store if I need to then!!

Thanks for the tip on the spare too! I'm hoping my step dad has the one for his ford too but I'll use a big extension if not!

Yeah problem is there is only one company that makes long tubes for the 2wd and they run around 1,400 a bit high for my blood

this might be complete ignorance so forgive me... but what would be the problem with running 4wd headers? if anything, I'd thing you'd have more room to snake them in there.
