That's the method I'm about to start using. Just kind of concerned about the threads because the hole I've made is close to the bottom, the stud was broken at an angle inside the head when I got to it do I couldn't drill dead center like I would have loved to do

Worry about that once u get the stud out.. you may have to use a tap to get the threads back or very worst you may have to install a helicoil but that's worse case scenario

Sounds good. While I got this thread open, any tips for getting the damn dipstick tube out? I tried a flathead and tapping at the base with a hammer, pliers, vice grips...no luck. I'm never buying a truck that was in the Midwest ever again

Damn dude, you got more problems than a math book...lol...the dipstick tube is a whole other ugly animal....I did one on an 02 w/ v-6...worsened by the fact it was an east coast ride...took about 2 hrs to get the old one out and another 2 to get the new one in

The underside of this truck is like the hull of a ship. I cut the oil dipstick off and I'm gonna use a piece of fuel line hose as a temp fix until I feel like doing it the right way one of these days.

Got both manifolds off finally, got my broken stud removed, working on pulling the rest of the studs which I won't be able to do until Wednesday.

To anyone else considering this job, a word of advice...take some yoga lessons at your local community college to increase your flexibility. Also, learn how to cuss.

This is the most complicated vehicle I've ever worked on for sure; that's what I get for crossing over from the Jeep world for a while,
