Had the same thing. Was a broken bolt that allowed the manifold to warp and leak. Got worse everyday. Would have cost $900+ to fix if not for my extended warranty. Had to fight with them to cover it though because they were blaming the bolt.

I figured if one side is going bad, the other side may not be too far behind. Definitley disconnect the Y pipe on both sides, unbolt motor mount on passenger side, lift the passenger side of motor 6 inches, i believe. You need the clearance on the passenger side, I heard. And either get stainless steel headers or ceramic so they last. You will probably break a couple bolts, so be ready for that. Good luck! And keep us updated when finished.

Ive never done Drivers side but the passenger side sucks. The shock tower is right in the way. I "think" I tried to jack up the motor but it didnt help. The bottom bolts in the front are the worse because you cant seem them.

Not to mention you have to get the broken bolts out somehow, (I weld on nuts and spin them out.) Its possible to do it at home, just dont expect it to be a 30 minute fix. If mine go back... Im installing headers.

Ive got a tick in my engine and the ford tech said to try n swap my manifold, he quoted me 1500 for a new mani, and install, and new bolts n gasket. my buddy that works for napa told me he could get me some JBA shorty headers for 500$, so i started looking around how to install them and the JBA instructions suck *****. I havent bought the Headers, or tried to install them but im planning to once I get some free time. I found this awesome writeup where u dont need to jack the engine. check er out. hope it helps

Mine just did the same thing. It goes in next week to find out for sure. I also was just towing my trailer down the freeway and started hearing a ticking. They say it might be a power train warranty fix. Lets hope so

No doubt. I'd purchase long tube headers and do it myself for anything over $800.
