I bought a Summit or Jegs $150 cat system on my '06 and it was a nightmare. First it had no instructions and tail pipes could go a few different ways. I have a resinance at 1,800 rpm that drives me crazy. I had a muffler shop change the tips from rear side exit to straight out the back, under coated, dynamat the underside of the bed and a few other things and nothing helped. I think it is a cheap muffler that created a resinance, you must use a good muffler IMO.

Magnaflow has the best low rpm sound and performance. I doubt that you lost low end torque unless they have seriously nasty bends in the pipe or used smaller than stock pipe. Its a myth that you lose torq with larger pipes. We have dyno proven that numerous times.

I am also dissapointed with my exuast on my 04 5.4L. I had my muffler guy install a magnaflow not sure what type but it was quieter than stock! So I had him change then and there then he installed a 40 series flow 1 in 1 out coming out in front of the rr tire and it sounded better but still not inpressed! I heard a guy at the carwash with 70 series flowmaster and it sounded awesome!!!

Yeah I had the cats taken out of the truck I had before but It was too much of a hassle to get it to pass state inspection here in Houston I can get a sticker but like I said its a hassle. My muffler is loud but only at full throttle but not a good loud I want deep sound
