Exhaust?

Borla
Put a single exit Borla cat back on my '08 4.6. Dual exit is all about the look, if thats what you want, but does not change performance one bit. I chose to save a few bucks and get the single and am not sorry. Very nice deep tone, no drone in the cab and not to loud which is exactly what I was looking for. Stainless system, got it welded together by a local shop. Highly recommend.

I just slipped off the back half of my exhaust (at the joint on the engine side of the muffler) and clamped on a cherry bomb and dumped it in front if the axle. I used the one with a 26" chamber. I personally do not like the echoey rasp of the flowmaster mufflers. Mine has a nice, deep-ish, mellow tone but people know you're there when get get on it. Granted, I have the 5.4... there's a few videos on YouTube with that setup, just not mine.

Part #140136 for an '04-'08 with extended cab 6 1/2 ft bed. Paid 495.00 on line, free ship. Could have installed it myself (high quality clamps included) but had it welded local for 100.00. Again, I love the balance of tone and moderate volume.

Not trying to hijack your thread here but I had to haul my truck to the local ford dealership a week ago because it was extremely under powered and I had no idea why. Come to find out they pulled out the oxygen sensors on the catalytic converters and they are all plugged up. The front ones on both sides are the worst but the rear ones are not in very good shape either. I thought about just cutting them out and then dealing with the codes but now i think that I would be better off with a new set of headers. Here's my question though. What brand would you guys suggest? Would i be better off with long tube or shorty headers? and if i get long tubes should i get catted ones or get off road pipes? I have been looking a lot at either stainless works or OBX headers. The stainless works headers come in either catted or off-road style. The off-road style pipes still have the ports to screw the oxygen sensors in so that wouldn't be a problem but i am curious about any gains that the off-road pipes add over having the catted ones. I am not really worried about emissions as i live in South Dakota and we don't have tests for that stuff. Any suggestions or input would be great.

Tomorrow I am having a new true dual setup installed with 2 Flowmaster Super 10 single in/single out mufflers. In my opinion if you want to go with Flowmaster, and want the most aggressive sound you can get while still using stock cats, the super 10's are the way to go. I currently have a single in/dual out super 40 setup, and while the tone is nice, the rumble and low end aggressiveness just isn't present. My buddy just did the same true dual setup on his Silverado and it's exactly the sound I'm after. Sounds mean even at low RPM's, and really has some crackle to it when you lay into it. I can give you a review by the end of the week if you'd like.
