Default Everyone else's truck do this?

So I was installing my seat covers listening to the radio. I had my steering wheel tilted up for more Room. The door chime wasn't beeping. After I put the steering wheel back down it started beeping.

So does the door chime not turn on when the steering wheel is up? Or is there a wire loose or something?

Either way I'm excited to not have to listen to that anymore.

Never tried really. My steering wheel is perfect and I don't want to mess it up by adjusting it.

When I need to work on it with the key in I'll take a small-medium punch and push the locking mechanism in the door back. I guess your actually rotating it so the door things it's closed on the latch in the door sill. To release it you just pull the door handle a few times.

Mine does not do that. Because of the way I sit in the truck I have my steering wheel as far up as it will go. The only time it does not chime is when I have the key in hand, not in the ignition.

Just tried mine and it dings no matter where you have the steering wheel. So I guess one of us has a loose wire.

When you tried it, was the truck on, or just the radio?

Ford has always had a problem with the harness in the column. My ranger and explorer both had this happen. In the explorer the turn signals only worked with the wheel all the way up.the harness is just the right lenght with no extra play. After constant up and down the wires pull out. A friend and his dad own a stearing column repair shop and they say all fords have this issue.

Damn, mine didn't do it. It's so stupid you can't have the door open and listen to the radio without the chime going off.
BTW, the next wire to go will probably be the one that makes the airbag explode. :P Unless you've already had that fixed.
