i only scanned a few posts so i dont know if its been said but, the experiences mentioned on this thread are the reasons why ethanol is dead.
the problem with ethanol is it has lower energy content than gasoline. so for the same volume of fuel you can do more work with gas than ethanol. since it takes work to move the truck down the road, the more energy you can get per gallon the farther you can go on the same amount of fuel.
this is a prime example of how ethanol is a negative energy product. it takes more energy to make ethanol than what ethanol contains. this is also why ethanol is not economical for the end users.

The only place that sells "pure gasoline" near me prices it 20-25 cents more than the area average for 10% ethanol.
Side bar: For those that can use E-85, have you wondered why the price for that cycles up at exactly the same ratio as "normal" gas? So much for the claim of (subsidized) ethanol reducing the cost of fuel. I seems that the ethanol produced "in house" and not subject to world oil prices/demand costs as much as the oil?? Actually the ethanol costs more as gas goes up, since there's less gas in the mix.
I still haven't broken down to try the extra high priced "pure gas". Maybe if I stumble over a station that sells it for less than ten cents over the 10% stuff.
IF... I can get an average increase of 2 mpg, the cost here (pure gas vs 10% ethanol) would net me about 2/10 of a mile per dollar better mileage cost.
